Leading telecommunication network in Ghana, MTN as efforts to promote cultural heritage and strengthen ties with traditional councils in the country, has planned to host a mammoth gaming night and musical concert at this year's Oguaa Fetu Afehye celebration on Friday and Saturday respectively as means to excite visitors who have traveled far and near to experience the rich cultural heritage of Cape Coast.

The events scheduled to hold at the Cape Coast-Chapel Square, follow the company's GH¢30,000 support to the Oguaa Traditional Council to augment its preparation towards the festival which has already gained both national and international attention.

MTN-Ghana again gave the Oguaa Fetu Afahye Planning Committee an amount of GH¢40,000 to assist activities of the festival.

Mr. Prince Owusu Nyarko, the Western and Central Regional Manager for MTN, disclosed this to the media in Cape Coast on Wednesday, when the company donated GHC 30,000 to the Oguaa Traditional Council to support the festival.

“We are here today to wish the Omanhene and the people of Cape Coast a successful festival. MTN has a good relationship with the traditional council so every Afahye, we come and pay homage. We are also having a gaming night and a musical concert at Chapel Square. We are giving all our customers who are coming to Oguaa, a special data offer. All this is to make sure that we make this Afahye, a very successful one”,  Mr. Owusu Nyarko noted.

He stated that MTN would set up at vantage points in Cape Coast with various promotions and make sure that people buy and pay with MoMo.

MTN further donated GH¢2000 worth of airtime and a drink hamper to the Oguaa Traditional Council.

Having demonstrated immense commitment towards the Oguaa Fetu Afahye celebration in previous years, MTN exhibited similar gesture in 2023 with its subsidiary insurance company, Ayo Insurance, providing an insurance package of GH¢315,000 to cover 19 chiefs and queen mothers of the Oguaa Traditional Council and further presented an amount of GH¢15,000 to the council, along with GH¢1,000 airtime and a drink hamper.

This year's Oguaa Fetu Afahye, slated for August 31 to September 6, 2025, promises to be an exciting celebration of unity, tradition, and resilience, as the festival aims to promote cultural tourism, entrepreneurship, and community development in Cape Coast.

Dubbed "Innovate to Elevate: Harnessing the Creative Economy for Sustainable Growth," the 61st Oguaa Fetu Afahye bares exciting activities like the bakatue regatta, masquerade carnival, the orange friday carnival, youth colloquia, cooking competition, musical concerts, community football gala, traditional rites, among others.
