Ghanaian businessman Ibrahim Mahama has denied any involvement in cryptocurrency or investment schemes, warning the public to ignore AI-generated videos falsely linking him to such ventures.
“The public is hereby put on notice to disregard the AI-generated videos being circulated by faceless people or sources about Mr. Ibrahim Mahama being engaged in any form of investment scheme or cryptocurrency trading,” Rafik Mahama, social aide to the businessman, said in a statement on Sunday.
“Mr. Ibrahim Mahama is not involved in any form of investment scheme or cryptocurrency trading or business dealings anywhere,” he added.
According to the statement, steps have been taken to report the fake videos to state authorities, and a key suspect has been arrested and processed for court by the Police Cybercrime Unit.
The aide also cautioned the public against fake Facebook and TikTok accounts created using Mahama’s name and image, saying the CEO of Engineers & Planners Ltd and Dzata Cement Ltd is active only on his verified Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) accounts.
