GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited has refuted media reports suggesting that it criticized or abandoned President John Mahama’s 24-Hour Economy initiative.

In a statement issued on Thursday, October 16, 2025, the company described the reports as a “misrepresentation of statements” made during its engagement with the Parliamentary Select Committee on Labour and Employment on October 15, 2025.

According to GIHOC, sections of the media “grossly misrepresented” the discussions and presented a narrative that did not reflect the intent or content of the meeting.

The company clarified that at no point did management make comments about withdrawing support for the 24-Hour Economy policy or call on the government to clamp down on alcohol imports. Rather, officials only responded to questions relating to the company’s operations and ongoing efforts to improve efficiency.

GIHOC reaffirmed its full support for the 24-Hour Economy initiative, noting that it is actively working to expand production capacity, enhance competitiveness, and contribute meaningfully to national development.

The statement added that the company remains committed to innovation, efficiency, and quality improvement to regain market leadership and strengthen its role in the beverage industry.

GIHOC emphasized its dedication to transparency, professionalism, and collaboration with all stakeholders, including the media, in advancing the shared goal of industrial growth and national development.

“We respectfully urge all media houses and commentators to seek clarification from official sources before publishing reports that may inadvertently distort public understanding or misrepresent institutional positions. GIHOC remains available to provide accurate information and context as needed,” the statement said.

The company further expressed appreciation to the Parliamentary Select Committee for the constructive engagement and reaffirmed its commitment to working collaboratively toward industrial revitalization and job creation.

“We trust that the media outlet concerned will, in keeping with its own high professional standards and reputation for accuracy, take immediate steps to correct the unintended misrepresentation and set the record straight for the benefit of the public,” it added.
