A team of hundred healthcare practitioners of the Medical Superintendents' Group have visited the COA Research and Manufacturing Company Limited, where herbs are said to be manufactured scientifically at Wusorkrom in the Central Region.
It's estimated that four billion people globally use herbal medicine, representing 80% of the world's population. Yet several healthcare facilities and individuals still refrain from patronizing herbal medicine.
A major challenge to this underscores the lack of scientific method in the preparation of most of these herbal medicines.
Giving reasons for the visit, President of the Medical Superintendents' Group in the country, Dr. Kamarudeen Korku Hussein, noted that as good as traditional medicine is to the citizenry, absence of scientific method in its preparation has led to some healthcare workers and individuals not patronizing it.
He noted that after years of findings, the group realized that the COA Research and Manufacturing Company's herbs appears different.
Hence, the need to visit the factory to unravel the secret behind preparation of the medicine.
CEO of the COA Research and Manufacturing Company Limited, Prof. Samuel Ato Duncan, first thanked the group for the visit. He disclosed various scientific method that the preparation of his herbs go through. This, he noted has led him to win many global recognitions. Notably among them, he stressed was being adjudged the World best scientist in 2022.
Professor Samuel Ato Duncan noted that he believes that given the needed support, herbal medicines can turn the economic fortune of the country.
He therefore called on the Ministry of Health and Medical practitioners to team up with him to find antidotes to chronic and other health challenges in the country.
