He explained that the costs included fees for the directors and dancers as well as costumes and props.
Speaking in an interview with Hitz FM on July 22, 2025, Fameye gave details about the performance, including how he hired two directors to make sure he gave a proper performance.
“I’m sure I’m one of the few artistes that spent much on that night. We spent a lot, it was over 15,000 dollars because we had to sew costumes for myself and the dancers, build the set and props, pay the directors, and everything,” he said.
All these costs, he revealed, were approved in a budget he had submitted in advance to the TGMA organisers.
“And they did well,” he added, indicating that the show’s execution met his expectations.
Commenting about his performance on the night of the TGMA, he said noted that it was not the actual performance which was planned.
“I didn’t feel it. My band told me that we have tried. I had a feeling like it was (not great). People have to talk about it because it was good but I had setbacks that personally I think if not for those reasons, I should have been the number one performer that night.
“We had a preset and it was supposed to be played that day. What I was supposed to hear was different from what the audience was supposed to hear.
“But nothing was played and I was waiting for my in-ear to play but it didn’t happen, my band was not hearing anything,” he stated.
He said he had a difficult time to give his best performance and blamed it on “technical issues” which he said “is normal and happens.”
