The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has conducted unannounced visits to the Madina Polyclinic and the Mother and Child Hospital to assess healthcare delivery, staff attendance, and the general condition of the facilities.
During the inspections,
Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh toured the maternity, pediatric, and emergency units to evaluate patient care and service delivery.
He also interacted with healthcare workers and patients to better understand operational challenges confronting the hospitals.
Dr. Akandoh further assessed the availability of medical equipment, drugs, and other essential supplies needed for effective healthcare delivery.

As part of measures to strengthen security and accountability within health facilities, Dr. Akandoh urged health workers, including nurses and midwives, to wear their name tags at all times and ensure the proper maintenance of CCTV systems within the hospitals.
According to the Minister, the directives are necessary to prevent unauthorized persons and criminal activities within healthcare facilities while promoting professionalism among health workers.
Hon. Akandoh also assured management of the Mother and Child Hospital that government would immediately post five midwives, three doctors, and five mechanized orderlies to the facility within the next 24 to 48 hours to improve healthcare delivery and reduce pressure on existing staff.
The surprise inspections form part of ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Health to improve healthcare standards, accountability, and maternal and child healthcare services across public health facilities in Ghana.
