Some voluntary groups of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) with others being non-partizan, numbering about 175 across the country have throw massive support behind Kennedy Ohene Agyepong, the former Member of Parliament for Assin Central and 2024 NPP flagbearer aspirant to be the flagbearer for the party in the 2028 general elections.

Nana Nyarko, Chairman for PHD-Ghana First Association, one of the numerous groups rooting for the 'showdown kingpin', following a general meeting held in Cape Coast on Thursday, May 1 said, "Hon. Kennedy is a man of integrity and shows care to all persons irrespective of their political differences."

The meeting sort to bring all these groups under one umbrella with the name 'The Base', with the mandate to effectively work towards a common goal of sustaining an efficient grassroot base for Kennedy Ohene Agyapong to propel him lead the NPP party in the 2028 general election.

Charles Bissue, the former Western Regional Secretary of the NPP, upon gracing the event and in highlighting the groups which turned out for the meeting noted that "Ken 2028, Ken Ladies, PHD-Ghana First, and host others numbering about 175 groups across the country have all come together to support Hon. Ken even without his knowledge for the general good of Ghana."

Mr. Bissue further hailed the former Assin Central lawmaker saying, "Hon. Ken's approach to things is pragmatic."

Members of this new group in their subsequent engagements is expected to later converge in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region with Kennedy Agyapong to officially unveil the group to him.

Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party is yet to commence processes for any internal party election from constituency to national level after its humiliating defeat in the 2024 general election.
