Agona West MCE, Traditional Authorities Condemn Attacks On Fire Personnel

The Municipal Chief Executive of Agona West Municipality, Hon. Eric Gyamfi Odoom has condemned recent attacks on firefighters in the country.

He said this when speaking as the Guest of Honour at the remembrance ceremony to climax this year's International firefighters day commemoration at Agona Swedru Fire Station in the Central Region.

According to the MCE, assaults on firefighters are criminal and must be dealt with. He threw his support to the Fire personnel to prosecute any individual who lay his hands on any firefighter or firefighting equipment.

Nana Karikari Darko II, Baamuhene, representing the Chief of Agona Swedru expressed their displeasure forwards the act of vandalism towards firefighters and urged the fire personnel to report such acts to the traditional authorities and they will assist in dealing with it without fear or favour. 



The Municipal Fire Commander, DOII Abdul Wasiu Hudu also added that assult on firefighters is a betrayal of the very community the firefighters are meant to serve.

He called on the public to use the appropriate medium to channel their grievances.

This year's program was dedicated to ADOII Joseph Baidoo who died tragically after rescuing two persons from a well and lost his in the process.
