As the world seeks to improve menstrual hygiene, particularly among girls through diverse avenues, Madam Safiatu Ibrahim, a revered Midwife at Our Lady of Grace Hospital in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District in the Central Region has device how best to achieve this among school girls in her district.
The Midwife through the distribution of sanitary pads, intend blending tradition to menstrual hygiene to educate school girls in the area on how well to keep themselves hygienic during menstruation.
In view of this, she has gladdened the hearts of thousands of female pupils in Breman Asikuma with the celebration of this year's 'world menstrual hygiene day' earmarked on Wednesday.
Madam Safiatu Ibrahim at the event which saw female adolescent teenagers receive enough education on menstrual hygiene, presented over 5000 sanitary pads to these girls, compared to last year's 600 pads distributed.
The event which aims to be celebrated annually, sort to educate female students in the area on how well to use the sanitary pad during menstruation.
In an interaction with the Midwife, she reiterated the implications school girls go through during menstruation and hence thought it wise to assemble these students in the district to create awareness on personal and menstrual hygiene.
Nana Yaa Buamah II, Queen Mother for Breman Traditional Council at the program implored these school girls on the need to be role models and mentors for others to look upon by leaving an upright life amid their education on menstrual and personal hygiene.
Some students who benefited of the event expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Madam Safiatu for the opportunity to be educated on menstrual and personal hygiene, a training most parents have failed to do.
