National Coordinator for the free SHS program, Ms. Benita Sena Okity-Duah has indicated that the promise made by President John Dramani Mahama whiles in opposition on having private secondary schools included in the free SHS policy wasn't a mere political talk but one which will be made realistic soon by the ruling NDC government.

She indicated that government has so far added 60 private secondary schools in the piloting program of the free SHS program.

Ms. Okity-Duah emphasized that the piloting won't only end there but serve as a learning curve for government on how well to implement the policy in the next academic year in resetting the education sector.

Uncovering government's decision to roll out private schools on the free SHS policy in the 2026/2027 acadamic year.

The free SHS National Coordinator said this at the 20th Anniversary of St. Andrews Senior High School at the school's main campus at Assin Fosu dubbed: "The Inclusion of Private Schools in the Free SHS Program: A Mirage or Reality."

Hon. Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah, the Central Regional Minister chanced on the opportunity to appeal on government to make Senior High School rather become the end to basic level education in the country, since that's where individuals get to acquire adequate knowledge.

Adding that when one completes JHS, it doesn't give such individual enough knowledge, talkless of the person's acquired certificate which appears sub-standard for employment at any level. Thus, the call for government to extend basic level education to senior high school.
