Chief of Ankaful in the Cape Coast Metropolis in the Central Region, Nana Obuur Asankomah Ansah lll, has questioned Ghana's minority in parliament's staged walkout during the 2025 mid-year budget review.

Speaking in an interview with Sompa TV's Eric Annan, the chief addressed the act as worrying to the interest of the country.

He underscored the minority's walkout from the mid-year budget review as a selfish act, taken without considering the interest of the public but rather to safeguard the interest of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), having described the act as bizarre since the country's priority transcends that of any political party.

Nana Obuur Asankomah laying emphasizes on the ensued Ablekuma North by-election violence as stance taken by the minority to boycott the mid-year budget review, he queried the chosen stance by the minority as frivolous.

Hinting that the time chosen to embark on such action to him was inappropriate, since the Ablekuma North by-election violence occured days to the mid-year budget review and as such could've address the issue prior to the budget review.

He expressed concern that since the National Democratic Congress (NDC) currently enjoys a supreme-majority status in parliament, the least the NPP can do as minority is to watch out for the ordinary Ghanaian by being present in parliament on such crucial occasions to highlight to the citizenry actions undertaken by the ruling government which they see destructive to the country's economical growth.

The chief further shared worry on the Finance Minister's revelation of over 14,000 public workers on government's payroll without been verified while presenting the mid-year budget.

He quizzed to find out the thorough diligence carried out on the issue and measures undertaken by the government to subsequently resolve and punish perpetrators to the incident rather than merely presenting such facts to the public unaddressed.
