The somber echoes of grief and solidarity filled the Central Regional Coordinating Council conference room today August 14, as the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Central Regional Chairman, Mr. Kingsley Nana Buadu, led a delegation of media personalities to sign the book of condolence in honor of the eight gallant officers who tragically lost their lives in the recent helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofrom in the Ashanti Region.

The book of condolence, opened at the instance of the Regional Coordinating Council, drew notable figures from the media fraternity and government institutions, all united in paying their last respects to the fallen heroes.

Speaking after penning his heartfelt tribute, Mr. Buadu described the loss as a national tragedy that has shaken the core of Ghana’s security and service apparatus. 

He emphasized the need for continued support for the bereaved families and called on the public to remember the victims not only for their service but also for their sacrifice.

Among the dignitaries present at the solemn event were Dr. Frederick Ofori-Nuako, Acting Regional Director of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), and Madam Alice Tettey, Central Regional Manager and Editor of the Ghana News Agency (GNA). 

Both individuals expressed their condolences, noting the deep bond that exists between the media and the security services in advancing national development and democracy.

Dr. Ofori-Nuako noted, “We share in the grief of the nation. These were not just uniformed men, but fathers, brothers, and patriots whose legacy must be preserved.”

For her part, Madam Alice Tettey called on the media to be circumspect and respectful in reporting such national tragedies, reminding all journalists of the sacred duty they owe to both truth and compassion.

The book of condolence will remain open for the public and institutional representatives to sign in the coming days.

As the nation continues to mourn, it is the hope of many that the memories of these eight heroes will be etched forever in Ghana’s collective conscience.
