President for the Central Regional House of Chiefs, Odeefuo Amoakwa Buadu VIII, has shared grief over the region's present state amid its high economic potentials.
According to the revered chief, though the Central Region prides itself with a tall list of economic potentials, its challenge is how to harness these potentials to propel the region to another level in respect to development. Appealing that the region's success will require the collective and continuous effort of all stakeholders including chiefs.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 'Central Expo' 2025, Odeefuo Amoakwa Buadu expressed excitement as he's always pressed with the breath of products produced in the Central Region, coupled with the attention the region has garnered globally which can't be overemphasized despite challenge to the region's economic potentials.
He shared no surprise that the Central Region is no longer counted among the country's poor regions but among the richest, placing fourth richest region in Ghana behind Greater Accra, Ashanti, and Western Region.
Further articulating that the region comes second on the country's demographic dividend behind Greater Accra, which interprets the proportion of the population who can work.
Themed "Unlocking Business Opportunities in the Central Region," the week-long expo is an annual exhibition fair spearheaded by the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) which seeks to showcase the region's indigenous culture, natural resources, tourist attraction sites, businesses, manufactured products and business ideas.
Hon. Eduamoah Ekow Okyere Panyin, Minister for the Central Region in his address eulogized how the 'Central Expo' has impacted businesses in the region over the years.
He underscored that the expo has within this period, given an opportunity for business owners to travel to countries like Germany, Canada, and neighboring African countries to showcase the Central Region's business potentials.
The Regional Minister again observed to be much improvement on this year's expo, having drawn inspiration from previous editions to correct its committed shortfalls and further have the event hold for 24-hours.
