The chiefs and opinion leaders of Subinso Number Two in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region have called for urgent police and military protection.

‎Their appeal followed the arrival of hundreds of at Subinso Number Two who were currently seeking refuge in the commercial town in the Bono Region.

‎Sompa FM learnt that the asylum seekers, mostly women and their children had fled their homes in the Sawla/Tuna Kalba District of the Savannah Region following the violent clashes which erupted at Gbinyiri in the district.

‎Reports indicate that the clash erupted on Sunday August 24, 2025 over a disputed piece of land and had since claimed about 10 precious lives and left several injured.

‎Speaking in an interview with sompa FM at Subinso Number Two, Mr Samuel Anane, the Assembly Member for the Area, said so far about 450 migrants had sought refuge in the town.

‎He said "We don't know what will happen next as the migrants keep arriving in the town" and called for enhanced security, saying though the people had formed a community watchdog committee, that was not enough to provide absolute security for the migrants and residents.

‎Mr Anane said the chiefs and opinion leaders of the area had managed to find some shelter for drifters and appealed for government intervention.

‎"Because today is a market day, we have also managed to arrange some food items like gari, yams and some rice, however that is also not enough", he indicated and appealed for food aid and clothing for the upkeep of the migrants.

‎During the visit on Wednesday, Sompa FM noticed that many of the migrants were nursing mothers carrying their babies.
