C/R: One Died,19 Injured in an Accident at Cape Coast

A fatal vehicular accident near the NDC Central Regional Office in Cape Coast on the Accra-Cape Coast highway has claimed one life with several others sustaining varying forms of injury on Tuesday, 23rd September, 2025.

The accident which occurred around 5:30am, involved a Mecedes Sprinter vehicle with registration number CR 623-25 running into a broke down Man Diesel truck with registration number WR 1546-V, resulting into the death of one woman as 19 other casualties suffered severe degrees of injury.

A report by Sompa TV's Eric Annan indicates that the Sprinter Minibus which was travelling from Mankessim towards Cape Coast was on top speed with low visibility, hence crashing into the stationary Man Diesel truck which had developed a fault.

The severity of impact on the Sprinter bus following the crash, saw three passengers onboard trapped in the vehicle including the deceased woman who were later disengaged from the mangled vehicle by officers of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) upon their arrival at the scene.

According to eyewitnesses, driver of the Sprinter Minibus who was on top speed, attempted a wrongful overtaking on another vehicle but unfortunately run into the Man Diesel truck which was parked on the shoulder of the road due to mechanical fault.

Victims of the accident were assisted by officers of the GNFS rescue team and the National Ambulance Service and were conveyed to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.

Meanwhile, the National Road Safety Authority, the Ghana Police Service and National Ambulance Service collaborated in managing the situation upon its occurrence.
