Royal Gate urges Asantehene's intervention to stop illegal mining at Duayaw-Nkwanta

The Tetretem Royal Gate of the Duayaw- Nkwanta Traditional Area in the Ahafo Region is urging the government to do more and bring under control the growing illegal mining activities in the country.

They also called for the intervention of the Asantehene Otumfuor Osei Tutu II towards fighting the menace which was gaining roots in the Traditional Area too.

The royal gate made the call when addressing a media conference at Duayaw-Nkwanta in the Tano North Municipality of the region.

Nana Ofori Adu, the Registrar and the Public Relations Officer at the Duayaw-Nkwanta stool lands expressed worry that illegal mining activities was become rampant in the area.

Nana Adu regretted that the illegal miners were destroying river bodies, farms and the vegetative and forest covers in the area and called for urgent security intervention.
