The Metropolitan Chief Executive of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur has left students and staff of Antem M/A Basic School in an ecstatic mood upon commissioning an ultramodern 10-seater toilet facility for the school.
Students and staff of the school, having endured the plight of having to go about their daily teaching and learning routine without an ideal place of convenience for years, have expressed immense gratitude towards the uniquely constructed toilet facility.
The commissioned facility in as much as it's in to serve the purpose for which it was constructed, equally seeks to improve upon the hygienic practices of students as well as staff of the school.
The project boost of two changing rooms, a urinal pole for boys, 8 water closets (WCs) for students and an additional two WCs for teachers.
Meanwhile, admiration has been the aftermath towards unveiling of the facility, considering the awe-inspiring work been done on the project which was constructed in less than three (3) months by Soghadisco Enterprise Limited and has subsequently handed over the facility to the Metro Assembly.
Speaking at the event held for the commissioning of the project, Hon. George Justice Arthur, underscored his Assembly's commitment towards improving quality education within the Cape Coast Metropolis and preached for an improved maintenance culture on the toilet facility which has been handed over to the school authority.
He wished that the facility be sustained under good and hygienic condition from now, even to the next 10 to 20 years.
The Cape Coast Mayor, however, emphasized that the facility is a bonafide property of the school and out of bounds to the Antem community.
Hon. George Justice Arthur threatened to arrest any resident of the community who will after school hours, try to break into the facility and is caught, since he wish to have the facility last longer than expected, after spending a fortune to have the facility constructed.
The Central Regional Director of Education, Dr. Mrs. Juliet Dufie Otami, having graced the occasion with her presence, commended the Cape Coast Mayor for his swift response towards Antem Basic School's confronted challenge for a requisite place of convenience.
She observed that the facility goes beyond just a mere place of convenience as it may be described, since the edifice will seek to ensure good sanitation hygiene among students of the school for enhanced good health and to also ensure dignity among staff and pupils of the school.
Ms. Elizabeth Otoo Dsane, the Headmistress of Antem M/A Basic School, after her appreciative remarks towards the toilet facility, assured the Mayor to take absolute care and maintenance of the project in other to have it exist much longer to serve the purpose for which it was constructed for the school.
