A Sunyani District Court presided over by His Worship Eric Daning, has remanded suspect Kodom Stephen into Police custody for the murder of a chief and his wife.
The Bono Regional Police Command arrested the suspect in connection with the fire outbreak, which happened on 20th October 2025, at Asuakwaa near New Dormaa in the Sunyani Municipality.
Suspect, Kodom Stephen, aged 58, was arrested at Wenchi on November 1, in connection with the burning and death of the late sub chief of Wenchi and his wife following credible information received by the Police.
The victims, identified as Nana Ameyaw Ampofo, aged 65, and Grace Adu Boafoawaa, aged 49, were found burnt beyond recognition on October 20.
A Toyota Highlander and a pickup vehicle parked nearby were partially damaged as a result of the inferno.
A statement issued and signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Bono regional Police Command on Monday November 3, Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah said, "The suspect was charged with two provisional counts of murder and causing unlawful damage, pending further investigation."
The suspect will reappear in court on November 11, 2025.
