22-year-old man identified only as Kweku has been arrested for allegedly sodomizing a 7-year-old child on Monday, November 3, 2025 at Mankessim. 

The incident is said to have occurred in broad daylight at Nananom, a suburb of Mankessim in the Central Region.

The victim's father, Mr. Francis Takyi, in an interview with Sompa News Eric Annan reported to have received a destress call while returning from church, informing him that the culprit had been caught in the act of sodomy with his child.

Upon arriving at the scene, Mr. Takyi confirmed that Kweku admitted to the act, and is now in custody with the Mankessim Jedu Divisional Police Command, pending court proceedings. 

The child following the incident, was taken to Roman Hospital in Mankessim for early check-ups before been referred to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for further medical examination.

This case has since garnered media attention, with reports confirming the arrest and the ongoing investigation. 

The incident highlights concerns about child safety and the importance of swift police intervention in protecting minors from abuse.
