The Fiapre Circuit Court has remanded three suspects into police custody in connection with the theft of a service pistol belonging to the Ghana Police Service at the Ahafo Newmont Mines Company in Ntotroso, near Kenyase in the Ahafo Region.

‎The Bono Regional Police Command reports that the incident occurred on January 13, 2025, but the suspects — identified as Joseph Blackige, 25, Kwabena Dodzi, 44, and Adu Yeboah Abraham, 46— were only arrested on November 12, 2025, following an intelligence-led operation by the National Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU).

‎A fourth suspect, Priscilla Awuni, 18, was also picked up during the operation.

‎According to police, Blackige and Awuni were arrested at Ntotroso. Although a search of Blackige’s room revealed nothing initially, he allegedly confessed during interrogation to handing the stolen weapon — a service Beretta pistol with registration number GHGP/NHQ/CTD/H78688Z-13— to Dodzi.

‎Police investigators were subsequently led to the residence of the third suspect, Adu Yeboah, also known as Okwaraji.

‎A search there uncovered six BB cartridges, suspected gunpowder, and cash amounting to GH₵28,844, which have since been retained as evidence.

‎The suspects were charged provisionally with stealing and possession of stolen property when they appeared before Her Worship Mrs. Akua Adoma Addae at the Fiapre Circuit Court on Thursday.

‎While Awuni was granted police enquiry bail pending further investigations, the three male suspects were remanded into police custody and are expected to reappear before the court on November 28, 2025.

‎Therefore, the Bono Regional Police Command says investigations remain ongoing.

‎Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Bono regional Police Command who confirmed the remand in a statement added that the suspects will reappear in court on November 28, 2025.
