The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) Task Force on 15 November 2025 conducted a dawn operation at an illegal mining site known as “Yellow Face” at Wassa Abrehyia in the Western Region.

The unexpected arrival of the task force caused miners at the site to flee in an attempt to avoid arrest.

Officers moved in to dismantle the operation, burning makeshift structures and equipment believed to be used for illegal mining. 

During the raid, the team also discovered significant quantities of illicit drugs and dynamite, highlighting the scale of criminal activity taking place at the site.

NAIMOS says similar targeted operations will continue in the coming days and weeks as part of efforts to disrupt illegal mining and curb the associated drug menace.
