Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC) has organised a day’s training workshop to sensitize some residents of Wenchi in the Bono Region on the mandate of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
The workshop aligned with efforts by the GACC to empower citizens to contribute to the fight against corruption and was attended by chiefs and queens, civil society, religious leaders as well as women and youth groups.
Addressing the opening session of the workshop at Wenchi, Assistant Programme Officer of GACC, Ms Dorcas Afum Tenkorang explained regretted that corruption remained the bane of accelerated national development.
She called for collective approach to tackle the growing trend of corruption in the country, saying the fight against menace was not the duty of single institution.
Ms Tenkorang,highlighted mentioned bribery, nepotism, embezzlement, favouritism, extortion, fraud, abuse of power, conflict of interest, and payment of facilitation fees as common cases of corruption in the country.
Some of the participants expressed gratitude to GACC and its partners for the workshop, describing the event as insightful.
