The Ghana Education Service (GES) has strongly condemned an assault on a teacher at Kade Senior High Technical School after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

According to an official statement issued and signed by the Public Relations Unit, Mr Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations said the attack involved past students of the school who allegedly assaulted Mr. Michael Quayson, a teacher, on October 5, 2025.

Preliminary reports indicate that the students were displeased with the teacher’s strict supervision during the invigilation of the Christian Religious Studies subject of WASSCE 2025.

GES revealed that neither the school authorities nor the Service was informed of the assault until the video began circulating online. Following the emergence of the footage, GES management initiated an investigation, which remains ongoing.

In its statement, GES described the assault as “unacceptable, unlawful, and a direct affront to the dignity of the teaching profession.”

The Service assured the public that the students involved would face the appropriate sanctions in accordance with the law and internal regulations.

The statement also reaffirmed GES’s commitment to supporting teachers nationwide, emphasizing the importance of discipline and maintaining the integrity of examinations.

Additionally, the Service urged all students across the country to respect authority and uphold discipline in their schools.

The incident has sparked widespread discussion about teacher safety, examination malpractice, and the need for stronger enforcement of discipline in educational institutions.

GES says it remains focused on ensuring justice is served and safeguarding the welfare of educators.
