The Bono Regional Police Command has held a solemn thanksgiving service at the Ghana Police Interdenominational Church in Sunyani to climax this year’s Police Memorial Day, honouring officers who paid the ultimate price while serving the nation.

The ceremony brought together officers, families of fallen heroes, and members of the community to reflect on the bravery, dedication, and selflessness of personnel who died in the line of duty.

According to the Command, the service served not only as a tribute to their sacrifice but also as a reminder of the enduring responsibility left in the hands of the living.

In a message delivered during the service, the Command emphasized that the legacy of the fallen officers continues to inspire the entire police fraternity.

“Their legacy lives on in each and every one of us, and we strive to continue their work in keeping our country safe,” the statement noted.

The Command also paid heartfelt tribute to the families of the deceased officers, acknowledging the emotional sacrifices they have endured. Their strength and resilience, the statement said, remain a source of encouragement to the service.

As part of the commemoration, attendees were invited to reflect deeply on the meaning of service and sacrifice. A scholar’s words, quoted during the service, resonated strongly:

“The candles we light tonight will not burn for long, but they remind us that we must all be the keepers of the flame once borne by our fallen heroes.”

The Command concluded by urging all officers to rededicate themselves to serving with courage, integrity, and compassion—values embodied by the officers whose memories were honoured.
