The Berekum Circuit Court has remanded Emmanuel Yeboah into police custody in connection with an attack linked to a long-running family dispute over a cashew farm that has now left two people dead.
Yeboah was remanded on charges of attempted murder and causing harm when he appeared before the court, presided over by His Honour Mr Osei Kofi Amoako Esq. The court ordered that he remain in police custody pending further proceedings.
According to the Bono Regional Police Command, the suspect was arrested on January 3, 2026, following a report that two individuals had been violently attacked while on their way to a disputed cashew farm.
Preliminary police investigations suggest that Yeboah allegedly ambushed the victims, his brother and his brother’s wife during the confrontation.
Police say the attack was triggered by a long-standing disagreement over ownership of the farm. A cutlass, believed to have been used by the suspect was retrieved at the scene and is being held as an exhibit.
In a significant development, police confirmed that both victims were on admission at a health facility receiving medical treatment, however, have died now from the injuries they sustained.
"Investigations are continuing as authorities gather further evidence surrounding the incident", the statement signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, Public Relations Officer of the Bono Regional Police Command said.
Emmanuel Yeboah is expected to reappear before the Berekum Circuit Court on January 12, 2026, for the continuation of proceedings.
