Some concerned royals of the Boahen Korkor Royal Family, the custodian of the Sunyani Paramount stool has cautioned Odeneho Akosua Dwaben II, the Paramount Queen-mother of the Dormaa Traditional Area to desist from interfering in the Sunyani Chieftaincy dispute.

They reminded the queen-mother that the dispute was pending before the judicial committee of the Bono Regional house of chiefs, and worried that: “meddling into the dispute will not only worsen matters, however threaten the prevailing peace of Sunyani”.
Addressing a news conference in Sunyani, Mr J A Danquah, the spokesperson of the Nyantakyiwaa Family, one of three royal Gates of the Boahen Korkor Royal Family, said it was unfortunate that “Odeneho Dwaben II is interfering in the Sunyani Chieftaincy dispute”.

The royal family organised the press conference in reaction to some recent remarks by Odeneho Dwaben II during the one-year anniversary of the “purported enstoolment of Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boaken Korkor as the Paramount Chief of the Sunyani Traditional Area”.
Odeneho Dwaben II reportedly urged the chiefs and people of the Sunyani to bury their differences and rally behind Odeefour Korkor and further invoked curses at any member of the royal family who might support the chief.

Mr Danquah said Queen-mother’s unfortunate and unacceptable remarks had since generated tension in the traditional area, asked her retract.
Flanked by other senior royals, including Nana Obiri Yeboah, the Head of the Boahen Korkor Royal Family, Mr Danquah said: “Sunyani truly cherishes its friendship with the Dormaa people”.
Nana Abena Dokua, a member of the Boahen Korkor Royal family said the pronouncements of Odeneho Dwaben were disgusting and shameful and asked her to retract and render unreserved apology to the Boahen Korkor Royal Family and the entire Sunyani people.
