Authorities of the Volta River Authority (VRA) says it has arrived at a decision to ration power to the people of Sunyani and its environs.

Engineer Eric Ofori, the area engineer for NEDCo in Sunyani addressing the press on Wednesday said, they heard a sound from GRIDCo switch yard so they rushed to see what has happened. Upon their arrival they saw smoke coming out of their two transformers at the switch yard.

He explained that, power was shut down in order to protect lives and properties. Residents of Sunyani and its environs are experiencing power fluctuation since Tuesday, after the faulty transformers was shut down.
Mr Ofori also announced that a 6-hour power supply timetable will be introduced as part of measures to manage the current electricity challenges. He appealed to customers to remain calm, and he assured them that efforts were underway to resolve the challenges and restore stable power supply and emphasized that the technical team is working to have the fault resolve.
