A joint operation between Logeist Ecoreclaim Initiative and the Bekwai Police Command has yielded results, with two excavators seized and one galamsey operator arrested in the Abuakwaa forest, near the Kobro water body in the Amansie Central of the Ashanti Region.
The operation aimed to curb the menace of illegal mining and reclaim damaged lands.
The General Manager of Logeist Ecoreclaim Initiative, Mr. Seth Kofi Agyei, disclosed that the joint operation was a success and would continue, with a focus on reclaiming damaged lands and protecting water bodies. "The rate at which illegal miners are damaging our land and water bodies is alarming," he said.
Logeist Ecoreclaim Initiative has been at the forefront of reclaiming galamsey-damaged lands, having successfully reclaimed 200-hectares of land. Mr. Agyei emphasized that they would not accept or offer bribes, prioritizing the restoration of the environment.

The institute plans to collaborate with security agencies to intensify efforts against illegal mining, ensuring that damaged lands are reclaimed and protected.
Mr Seth Kofi Agyei disclosed that,the seized excavators will be at the police custody and the arrested perpetrators will be process to court on Monday.
He called on all to come on board to fight galamsay because it's a collaborative effort.
"If you see anyone who is doing illegal mining report or arrest the person and hand him over to the police" He said.
