A group known as Friends of Abofkay together with Yentie Abofkay group, has donated assorted essential items to inmates at Kumasi Central Prison on Friday, March 6, 2026 as part of an initiative aimed at demonstrating compassion and promoting positive values among young people.
The items donated include 150 bags of sachet water, Toiletries, Soap - liquid and detergents, Gari, Sugar, Toothpaste and brush, sanitary pad.
The others include; sugar, bottled water, soft drinks, and other basic necessities to support the welfare of inmates at the correctional facility.
According to the groups Leader, Emmanuel Cudjo, popularly known as Abofkay, a seasoned Journalist with a Sunyani based Sompa FM revealed that, the gesture was intended to express love, sympathy, and care for the inmates while also contributing to efforts that support rehabilitation within the prison system.
He noted that a significant number of Abofkay’s followers are young people, and the outreach was also intended to serve as a learning opportunity for them.
“A large number of Abofkay’s followers are youth. Through this initiative, we want them to understand that the choices they make in life have consequences."
“Our visit to the prison is not only to show care and support to the inmates but also to encourage young people to make responsible decisions and pursue positive paths in life,” Abofkay stated.
Abofkay, the social media influencer emphasized that community support and acts of kindness can play a crucial role in restoring hope and dignity to inmates while reinforcing the importance of responsible living among the youth.
The Friends of Abofkay and the Yentie Abofkay group also called on other individuals, youth groups, and organizations to support correctional facilities and rehabilitation initiatives across the country.
