The Ghana Police Service has arrested four officials of a microfinance company in connection with an alleged assault incident at Ashongman Estate in Accra.

‎According to a press release issued by the Ghana Police Service on March 15, 2026, the suspects were picked up by the Kwabenya District Police Command as part of investigations into an alleged attack on a woman during a loan repayment dispute.

‎Police said the complainant, 42-year-old Hagar Emaser, reported on March 13 that four men believed to be officials of Bills Microfinance visited her residence at Ashongman Estate to demand repayment of a loan facility she had taken from the company.

‎During the visit, the men allegedly assaulted her while attempting to recover the debt.

‎The suspects — Denis Wornyo, 38; Albert Amarh, 40; Ebenezer Amartei, 23; and Atsu Lawson, 27 — were arrested the following day, March 14, to assist with investigations.

‎Police say caution statements have since been taken from all four suspects, who remain in custody while investigations continue.

‎The Accra Regional Police Command has urged victims of assault and other criminal acts to promptly report such incidents to the police for investigation.

‎Authorities also advised individuals involved in disputes over loan transactions and other civil matters to pursue lawful and peaceful means to resolve them.
