Six people have been left in critical condition following a road accident at Ahwetieso in the Tarkwa Municipality.
An eyewitness, speaking on Sompa Drive with Kwame Atoapim, said the crash involved a sprinter bus loaded with empty sacks and a Toyota Vitz transporting passengers from Accra to Tarkwa.
According to the eyewitness, the incident occurred when the sprinter driver suddenly began speeding upon reaching Ahwetieso and crashed into the Toyota Vitz.
“The sprinter driver started speeding unexpectedly and rammed into the Vitz, causing it to lose control,” the eyewitness recounted.
The impact forced the Vitz to veer into another lane, where it collided with an oncoming vehicle carrying sachet water, worsening the situation.
The eyewitness reported that three victims were initially rushed to the hospital.
However, before he arrived at the scene, three more had also been transported for medical treatment, bringing the total number of seriously injured persons to six.
Authorities are yet to release further details on the condition of the victims or the cause of the accident.
