Residents urge Mahama intervention as condition of Sunyani-Baakoniaba Road worsened

Some concern residents of Baakoniaba in the Sunyani Municipality are calling for the reshaping of the Sunyani-Baakoniaba stretch as President Mahama addresses a durbar of chiefs and people of the Bono Region.

The President, being accompanied by some ministers of state, Members of

Parliament (MPs) as well as some national executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is in the region for the 'Regional Accountability Series'.

He is expected inspect the progress of work on the construction of the Sunyani Outer Ring Road project as well as some educational facilities at the Sunyani

Senior High School and later host the durbar at the Sunyani Jubilee Park on Thursday, March 19.

Expressing their expectations from the President visit, a resident only known as John regretted that the bad condition of the Sunyani-Baakoniaba stretch was

creating nuisance, saying that the residents were highly exposed to respiratory problems due to the dust that emanated from the road.

He spoke to Sompa FM in an interview in Sunyani, worrying that it was also difficult for institutions to respond to emergency situation due to the deplorable condition of the road.


Another resident, Ruth Amoah, a shop keeper said the drivers plying the stretch could not cope with the several potholes developed on the road, and appealed for government's intervention.
