The Bono East Regional Director of Education,Rev. Kingsley Dwamena Asante, has called on stakeholders in the education sector to unite in tackling examination malpractice in schools.
Speaking at a meeting with teachers, parents and school administrators at Atebubu-Amantin, Rev. Asante described examination malpractice as a major threat to the credibility of the country’s education system and the future of students.
“Examination malpractice undermines the integrity of our education system and prevents a true assessment of students’ knowledge and abilities. We must all work together to eliminate this canker,” he stated.
He urged teachers to guide students to prepare adequately for examinations through hard work rather than relying on dishonest means.
Parents were also encouraged to support their children by promoting discipline and good study habits at home.
“Success achieved through dishonesty is short-lived. What our students need is discipline, commitment and confidence in their own abilities,” he added.
Rev. Asante further tasked school authorities to enforce strict supervision during examinations and ensure full compliance with rules and regulations, stressing that the fight against malpractice requires collective responsibility.
He added that sustained collaboration among teachers, parents, students and the wider community would significantly reduce the incidence of malpractice and help protect the integrity of academic assessments.
The Director also appealed to parents to support schools in executing development projects, noting that government alone cannot meet all infrastructural needs.
Meanwhile, during the visit to Atebubu Senior High School, Headmaster Mr. James Atterh Kartey outlined key challenges confronting the school, including inadequate furniture, limited dormitory space, lack of a school vehicle and the absence of a Home Economics practical laboratory.
He appealed to government and other stakeholders to urgently support the school to improve teaching and learning conditions.
