A medical report from the Sunyani Teaching Hospital has confirmed that Godfred Akomaning, the level 400 student of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) died of Organophosphate Poisoning.
The report said the late Akomaning who was pursuing a BSC Petroleum Engineering programme at the university was undergoing treatment at the facility on Saturday, March 21, 2026.
This was contained in a statement issued by the UENR and signed by Alfred Ohenenana Appiah, the Deputy Registrar and the Head of the University Relations Office, saying that the deceased family were duly aware of the tragic death.
The body had since been deposited at the Sefwi Anwiaso Community Hospital Mortuary.
Describing the incident as unfortunate, a copy of the statement made available to Sompa FM in Sunyani said the university management was deeply saddened and extended their innermost condolences to the bereaved family.
It said the management would conduct investigations into the incident and provide further information to the media and the public as soon as all the factual details were established.
The statement pledged the UENR’s dedication to providing a conducive environment for safety, security, and well-being of all students and staff.
