The Assemblyman for Essaman Electoral Area in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipality in the Central Region, Hon. Emmanuel Akorsah, has expressed grief over the poor state of sanitation of Edina Essaman, a suburb of his Electoral Area, describing it as a "dumping site" for the municipality.

He lamented that despite his Electoral Area being a major source of refuse dumping site for the KEEA municipality which ought to have benefited his people positively, residents of Edina Essaman are forced to endure unsanitary conditions, including heaps of garbage and waste.

"We are tired of waste being dumped here anyhow. Our drains are clogged. I need containers to manage the refuse. Something must be done," he lamented.

The Assemblyman appealed to the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Ismael Zagoon Saeed and the Member of Parliament, Hon. Samuel Atta Mills to take immediate action to address the issue, citing concerns over the impact on the community's well-being.

Chief of Edina Essaman, Nana Kweku Ababio in an interaction with Sompa TV's Francis Thompson, assured to ensure that talks are advanced with various stakeholders including the Assemblyman to sanction recalcitrant individuals who fail to adhere to communal labour in the area, thereby, leaving the community engulfed with filth all over.

Residents of the area equally joined the Assemblyman to call for help from the Municipal Assembly.

The situation in the Essaman Electoral Area highlights the need for effective waste management strategies and better governance to ensure that communities receive the services they deserve.
