Final-year students of Aggrey Memorial A.M.E. Zion Senior High School in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese (AAK) District in the Central Region, have received valuable guidance on career development and life after secondary school, following a comprehensive training program organized by the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Committee.

‎The initiative, dubbed “Beyond WASSCE 2026 — Preparing Students for Global Competence and National Relevance,” aimed to prepare students for the realities ahead of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and beyond, equipping them with practical knowledge on career choices, tertiary education, and personal development.

‎The training brought together officers from IPD and the Cyber Security Agency to mentor these students on navigating life after school.

‎Students at the training were taken through career selection and goal setting, opportunities in tertiary education and vocational training, entrepreneurship and self-employment pathways, personal discipline and time management.

‎Speaking at the program, Mr. Omar Bin Abdullah, PTA Chairman for Aggrey Memorial emphasized the importance of making informed decisions after WASSCE, noting that many students struggle due to lack of guidance.

‎Mr. Omar further highlighted that, parents must champion the well-being of their children even after their completion of second cycle education.

‎Meanwhile Mr. Nelson Herold Darko, a Senior Manager of Child Online Protection at the Cyber Security Authority indicated that unemployment rate in Ghana currently stands at 1.3 million and it's between the ages of 15-24 years whiles and further acknowledged the growing shortage in the cyber security sector, as data from the World Economic Forum indicates a global cyber security workforce gap of 4.8million as at 2025.

‎He opined the need to stimulate interest in the sector among young individuals in the country, and expressed that studies have shown that in the next 20 years, robotics will control employment rate in the world.

‎The Cyber Security expert again added that the search for service employment such as Police, Fire Service and Nursing opportunities isn't the remedy for the surging unemployment concern in the country.

‎Mr. Darko advised the young generation to adapt changes in technological advancement such as robotics, cyber security, software engineering and digital forensics so as to find themselves befitting in the global village.
