GES Mourns Two BECE Candidates Killed in Road Accident

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of two candidates preparing for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Upper West Region.

In a statement issued on May 5, 2026, GES confirmed that the deceased students, identified as Taufiq Ibrahim and Abdul Khalid, were from Charia Roman Catholic Junior High School.

They reportedly lost their lives in a road traffic accident on Sunday, May 3, while traveling to Wa to join their colleagues ahead of the examination.

The Service described the incident as heartbreaking, noting that the young students, full of promise and potential, had their lives cut short under distressing circumstances.
