Rev. Wilberforce Takyi, the minister in charge of the Resurrection Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana- New Dormaa has been elected as the new Chairperson of the Brong Ahafo Presbytery.
After a keenly contested election held on Thursday, May 6, 2026, at the ongoing 60th Session at the Peniel Retreat Centre- Ayakomaso, Rev. Takyi, garnered 69 votes to beat his two other contenders, Rev. Attah Dwomoh Appiah who obtained 36 votes, representing 27.5% whilst Rev. Augustine Agyapong Bae also managed 26 votes, representing 19.8%

Following the first round of voting (Nomination Stage), five candidates were nominated. They were Rev. Daniel Kwasi Bediako, who polled 6 votes; Rev. Benjamin Owusu-Antwi, who obtained 4 votes; Rev. Augustine Agyapong Bae, who secured 35 votes; Rev. Atta Dwomoh Appiah, who garnered 36 votes; and Rev. Wilberforce Takyi, who led with 49 votes.

Subsequently, Rev. Daniel Kwasi Bediako and Rev. Benjamin Owusu-Antwi were pulled out of the contest, leaving the three leading nominees — Rev. Attah Dwomoh Appiah, Rev. Augustine Agyapong Bae and Rev. Wilberforce Takyi — who proceeded to the final stage of the election.
In his brief acceptance remarks, the Chairperson elect who was also the Minister’s conference secretary thanked members for the confidence reposed in him and promised not to fail, but to provide leadership anchored on God’s grace and strength. With these words of gratitude and assurance, he celebrated his victory.
