A nine-year-old boy, identified only as Issah died when he slipped into a gutter at Amongoase in the Berekum Municipality of the Bono Region after a downpour.

During a visit to the community, Sompa FM gathered from residents that the incident happened around 2100 hours and 2200 hours on Tuesday May 19, 2026 when the deceased was walking to his sleeping place after taking his dinner at the family house.

In an interview, Madam Donkor, the boy’s grandmother said deceased left the house shortly after the downpour, saying that some bystanders heard the boy’s cry for help, however attempts to rescue him was unsuccessful as the flood waters swept him.
The lifeless body had since been deposited at the Berekum Holy Family Catholic Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
