The Bono Regional Police Command has launched investigations into a violent disturbance that led to damage at the Drobo Traditional Council’s Palace in the Jaman South Municipality of the Bono Region.

According to a press release issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service in Sunyani on May 21, 2026, the incident was reported by the Krontihene of the Drobo Traditional Council, Nana Tanor Bediako, together with two other persons.

Police said the complainants reported that at about 9:10 a.m. on May 19, 2026, a group of about 15 men wearing red bands stormed the palace with the intention of taking possession of the facility, causing damage to the main entrance door in the process.

Upon receiving the report, officers proceeded to the scene and found a crowd gathered at the palace forecourt. Investigators observed that the main entrance gate to the palace had been damaged, with one section removed and lying on the ground.

The Police also retrieved three pump-action guns loaded with 14 rounds of BB ammunition and one single-barrel gun from persons believed to be supporters of the Omanhene. The weapons have since been retained as exhibits to aid investigations.
