An emerging Ghanaian hiplife and hip-hop artiste King Gega has opened up about a difficult period in his life, revealing that he was once paralyzed for more than a year and at some point prayed for death due to the pain and frustration he endured.

Speaking in a one-on-one interview on Asempa FM, the musician recounted how he lost the ability to walk and stand after falling seriously ill, describing the experience as one of the darkest moments of his life.

“I was paralyzed for more than one year. I couldn’t stand nor walk. It wasn’t easy at all. Sometimes, I even prayed for death to come for me because all hope was lost,” he disclosed.

According to King Gega, his condition left him completely dependent on others for movement and daily activities, a sharp contrast to the active lifestyle he previously enjoyed.

“When I looked at myself and remembered how I used to do everything on my own and move around freely, it broke me. From my waist down to my feet, nothing was working anymore unless someone carried me in and out. I cried every day during that period,” he added.

Despite the painful ordeal, the artiste says he has now fully recovered and is grateful to God for giving him another chance at life.

“Right now, I can walk, run and do everything like I used to before I fell sick. I give thanks to the Almighty God for remembering me during my difficult moments and healing me. I’m grateful that He did not forsake me, and I’m overjoyed to be healthy again,” he said.

King Gega is gradually making a name for himself in Ghana’s music industry with his relatable lyricism and storytelling style.

He gained attention in 2024 with his hit single “I Live Alone,” featuring fellow Ghanaian rapper Strongman and produced by Apya.

The song, alongside other releases, highlights themes of hustle, street life and personal experiences, blending hiplife, hip-hop and Afrobeat influences.
