The Central Regional Minister, Hon. Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah, has appealed to Muslims and other affected residents within designated zones of the government’s BIG PUSH infrastructure project to cooperate fully with contractors by evacuating marked structures to pave way for the smooth execution of the initiative.
According to the Minister, the project forms part of government’s broader agenda to improve road infrastructure, enhance urban mobility and stimulate economic growth across the region, stressing that cooperation from affected individuals, particularly the Muslim community would accelerate the successful completion of the intervention.
He made the appeal at the Eid-al-Adha celebration held at Akyem, a suburb of Cape Coast in the Central Region, close to the Holy Child Senior High School where he commended Muslims for their continuous prayers, peaceful coexistence and contribution towards national development.
Addressing concerns over the demolition and evacuation exercise, the Minister acknowledged the inconveniences associated with relocation but assured affected residents that the project was intended to serve the collective interest of the people and future generations.
He therefore urged occupants of structures earmarked for demolition to comply with directives issued by contractors and relevant authorities to avoid confrontations and unnecessary delays that could hinder progress of work.
The event which drew to it revered political and religious figures of the Muslims community, saw the Deputy Majority Leader of parliament who doubles as Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South Constituency, Hon. George Ricketts-Hagan, Sarikin Zongo of the Central Region among other notable individuals.
Imam Iddris Rashid Tijjani, the Central Regional Chief Imam also used the occasion to encourage Muslims to continue exhibiting the values of peace, unity, sacrifice and tolerance which define the Eid festivities, adding that such virtues remain essential for national cohesion and development.
