Golden Intellectuals School emerged victorious in the maiden edition of the Sompa Spelling Masters Competition after outspelling South Ridge School and Glory Kindercare Learning Complex in a thrilling grand finale held on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at the old auditorium of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) .
The educational contest, organized by TeraOne Media, operators of Sompa FM and Sompa Television, brought together 36 public and private schools from the Sunyani East and Sunyani West municipalities to compete for top honors in spelling and literacy.
Golden Intellectuals secured the ultimate prize package, which included three tablets, 15 exercise books, a box of pen, three storybooks, mathematical set, a citation plaque, and a cash prize of GH¢3,000.

South Ridge School finished in second place and received a mathematical set, a box of pen, 15 exercise books, three storybooks, a citation, and a cash prize of GH¢2,000.
Glory Kindercare Learning Complex placed third, taking home a mathematical set, a box of pen, 15 exercise books, three storybooks, a citation, and a cash prize of GH¢1,000.
The Sompa Spelling Masters Competition was introduced to promote literacy, spelling proficiency, and academic excellence among basic school pupils while fostering healthy competition among schools in the Bono Region.

The initiative received approval and support from the Bono Regional Directorate of the Ghana Education Service as well as the Sunyani East and Sunyani West Municipal Directorates, underscoring its educational significance.
Speaking at the event, organizers highlighted their commitment to supporting quality education and creating platforms that challenge pupils to develop confidence, communication skills, and a passion for learning.

The successful maiden edition has been widely praised by teachers, parents, and education stakeholders, with many expressing optimism that the competition will become a major annual educational event in the region.
With the inaugural competition successfully concluded, attention is already turning to future editions as organizers seek to expand participation and further promote academic excellence among young learners.
