The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has called for stronger collaboration between Ghana and the United States to promote sustainable growth and development.
Sighted on Parliament official facebook page, speaking during a courtesy call by a delegation of members of the U.S. Congress at Parliament House, Speaker Bagbin expressed optimism that the visit would further deepen the longstanding relationship between the two countries.
He noted that Ghana enjoys one of the strongest democratic freedoms in the world and appealed for continued support from the United States to advance the country's development agenda.
"We look forward to strengthening our partnership in ways that will contribute significantly to the growth and prosperity of our people," the Speaker stated.
Leader of the delegation, Vern Buchanan, said the visit was intended to engage with the Speaker, learn from his experiences, and exchange ideas on parliamentary leadership and governance.
According to him, the delegation remains committed to exploring new avenues for enhancing the longstanding relationship between Ghana and the United States.
The Minority Leader Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, and the Chairman of Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, welcomed the delegation and commended the visit.
They stressed the importance of stronger cooperation between Ghana and the United States, particularly in areas that would create jobs, attract investment, and expand opportunities for the youth.
The visit is expected to further cement diplomatic and parliamentary relations between the two countries while opening new avenues for collaboration in governance, economic development, and youth empowerment.
