The Ghana Education Service (GES) has strongly condemned the violent assault on two teachers and the destruction of property at Bawku Senior High School in the Upper East Region, allegedly carried out by some students of the school.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, GES described the incident as "unacceptable, unjustifiable, and contrary to the core values of discipline, respect, and integrity that underpin education."
According to the Service, preliminary reports indicate that the attack was linked to the strict enforcement of examination regulations and invigilation during the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
GES said attacks on teachers performing their official duties constitute a serious breach of school discipline and pose a threat to the safety and security of staff.
