UENR unveils ‘Tech Fair’ to empower students digitally

The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) has launched its fifth edition of the ‘UENR Tech Fair 2026’ to empower the students with digital skills.

It was on theme: “Code around the clock: Equipping the youth with digital skills to build a resilient 24-hour economy”.

Speaking to Sompa FM on the sidelines of the launch held at the University’s main campus in Sunyani, Professor Peter Appiahene, the Convener of the UENR Tech Fair 2026 said the event was organised annually since 2021.

He said this year’s event was aligned with the government’s 24-hour Economy initiative, saying that the possibility of the implementation of the 24-hour economy partly depended on technology.

Prof. Appiahene, also the Head of Department of Information Technology and Decision Sciences of the UENR highlighted on the relevance of Artificial Intelligence (AI), saying that the technology aided research work.
He said the use of AI in the academia remained paramount and called on the nation to leverage AI for effective teaching and learning and to achieve useful educational outcomes.
