Former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko, has opened up about the deep emotional toll his suspension from the party took on him, describing it as one of the most painful experiences of his political career.

Mr. Afoko revealed that the fallout left him so bitter that he could not bear to watch NPP-related programmes on television, often switching channels whenever party officials appeared. He said he felt betrayed by individuals he now considers dishonest and untruthful.

The former chairman admitted that the ordeal nearly drove him out of politics altogether.

However, with time, he said he has gradually come to terms with the events and can now watch the party’s activities on television without the same level of bitterness.

“After my suspension had gone through and I went to court, and the court came up with that bizarre judgment, I walked away and said, Never again. I’m not going to look for any active position in party politics, because it’s a thankless job.

“These days, when I see them on TV, I don’t change channels. I used to change channels because I couldn’t stand the sight of people I believed were liars,” he stated during an interview with Starr FM on Thursday, September 4.
