Former Member of Parliament for Subin constituency of the Ashanti region and General Secretary hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon. Eugene Boakye Antwi has called on party members to prioritize unity as the party prepares for the 2028 general elections.

Speaking in an interview with Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye, host of Sompa ade akye abiaa show in Kumasi, Hon. Boakye Antwi emphasized that unity is crucial for the party's success in the upcoming elections, adding that recent verbal attacks amongst members were unhealthy for the party's growth.

He urged party members to refrain from speaking negatively about their colleagues, particularly aspirants vying for key leadership positions.

Hon. Boakye Antwi commended the meeting between the five Presidential aspirants and the former Presidents Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo and John Agyekum Kuffour, saying “it is a step in the right direction.”

According to the former Subin legislature, the party's ability to choose a strong leader from among the aspirants will be key to winning the 2028 elections.

He also asserted that effective policies are catalyst for election victories insisting that in spite of the popular nature of E-Levy and betting tax, it rather contributed to the party's massive defeat in the 2024 elections.

He emphasized the importance of policy discussions at party conferences, stating that good policies are what drive electoral success.

Mr Boakye Antwi also expressed optimism that by focusing on unity and policy development, the NPP can position itself for victory in the 2028 general elections.
