The German Ambassador to Ghana, Frederik Landshöft, has reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to deepening its security and development partnership with Ghana during a courtesy call on the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak.
A statement sighted at the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Interior, the meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in key areas, particularly security and development.
Ambassador Landshöft commended the longstanding collaboration between the two countries, describing it as one of Germany’s most effective international partnerships.
He highlighted his recent visit to border communities in Ghana’s Northern Region, stressing the need for sustained cooperation to address evolving security threats.
He further underscored Germany’s ongoing support through training and capacity-building initiatives and called for continued engagement with Ghanaian authorities to enhance these efforts.
Responding, Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak expressed appreciation for Germany’s consistent support for Ghana’s security framework.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening ties and acknowledged the impact of the Coastal States Stability Mechanism in improving border security and coordination.
The Minister, however, noted that security challenges in Northern Ghana remain complex and require sustained international collaboration.
He emphasized the need to improve surveillance systems, strengthen coordination among security agencies, and enhance responses to migration-related issues.
Hon. Muntaka also commended Germany’s contributions to climate and security initiatives and welcomed further cooperation in these areas.
He assured the German delegation of the Ministry’s open-door policy and expressed optimism about expanding the partnership to boost national and regional security.
