Parliament has launched the "Parliament and You" educational series under the theme, "Promoting Parliamentary Education Among the Young," in a move aimed at deepening young people's understanding of parliamentary democracy, governance, and civic responsibility.

‎Sighted on Official Facebook page of Parliament, the initiative, a collaboration between Parliament and Graphic Communications Group Limited, seeks to educate children and young people on the workings of Parliament while encouraging active citizenship and participation in democratic processes.

‎Launching the programme on behalf of the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the First Deputy Speaker, Hon. Bernard Ahiafor, underscored the importance of civic education in shaping future leaders.

‎He stressed the need for an inclusive and far-reaching approach to educating the youth about governance and democratic institutions.

‎According to him, investing in the education of young people and involving them in decision-making processes remains the surest way to prepare them for leadership responsibilities in the future.

‎"Empowering the youth today will enable them to confidently take centre stage tomorrow," he noted.

‎Both the Majority Leader, Hon. Mahama Ayariga, and the Minority Leader, Hon. Osahen Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, welcomed the initiative, describing it as a significant step toward helping children gain a better understanding of parliamentary proceedings and governance.

‎They urged Graphic Communications Group Limited to ensure that information disseminated through the programme is accurate, engaging, and tailored to the understanding of young audiences.

‎The Clerk to Parliament, Mr. Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, and the Managing Director of Graphic Communications Group Limited, Mr. Ato Afful, also highlighted the need to recognize children not only as future leaders but as important voices whose views deserve attention today.

‎They encouraged children to remain curious, informed, and committed to learning about governance and civic responsibility.

‎The Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, called on the children to take advantage of the educational opportunity presented by the initiative.

‎As part of his support for the programme, he donated 25 laptops to aid educational activities and promote digital learning among participants.

‎The "Parliament and You" educational series is expected to serve as a platform for nurturing informed, responsible, and engaged young citizens who understand the role of Parliament in Ghana's democratic development.
